Let me tell you how I really feel!

Let me tell you how I really feel (as if that’s a rarity).  I really feel like women with husbands, who have been out of work for an extended period of time, need to pony up. That’s right, I said it! These women need to get off their asses and stop putting an enormous amount of pressure on your husband to find a new career or job – as if it’s not an extreme challenge for a man in his 40’s, 50’s or 60’s to reinvent himself?!  Go find a job yourself or consider increasing your workload.  It’s do or die in this economy… if my husband lost his job, effective immediately, I would haul my size ten rear end into New York City with the determination and drive to get back into the publishing industry. I would not quit as the burden of job loss would become OURS, not his.

Entitlement is one of the most ugly characteristics I know and it near sickens me to watch some families (mom and/or dad) bury their heads in the reality of what their financial situation truly is.  We all wish and believe we deserve a life well lived.  It just has to be well earned.

So, if you’re in a situation such as this, and I know SO many who are, trust yourself to know that you’re smart enough and strong enough to help make up for the monies that may have been lost.  Consider this job opportunity with Dillon Road, even IF you are gainfully employed.  Watch how one woman starts and ends her day knowing that she has gained in more ways than one.

I continue to applaud women who have joined a Sales Team, earned a Realtor’s License, gone back to work in Human Resources, become Interior Designers or Event Planners, all for the sake of financial independence- rather than spousal dependence.

We are just as capable as men. Please don’t ever sell yourself short or think otherwise.

Same Sex Marriage. Thanks for the Nod. What About Job Creation?!

Obviously the word is out- no pun intended. Obama supports same-sex marriages and further believes it’s up to the individual states to decide – a bit of a contradiction, no?  On the cover of Newsweek’s May 21 issue Obama was dubbed as the “First Gay President.”   Although no laws have been changed, nor new bills signed, it is nice to know Obama believes all citizens should be treated as equal.

I wonder, is this “coming out” a way of diverting the American people away from noticing the lack of jobs created during his term or the deep black hole of a deficit he has dug?

We could all continue to wait for Obama to create employment opportunities or we can actually create jobs of our own.  I say this because Dillon Road is offering each and every one of you the chance to become an image consultant for their company.  No political party offering you this chance, just Butterfly and Dillon Road. For a clear picture of how Dillon Road can fit your life, watch here.

I don’t need Obama’s approval to know in my heart that same sex marriages should be a personal right. I also do not have to wait until the economy turns to offer you job creation.  I am here for you regardless of the administration!

Finally, Dillon Road and Butterfly would like to congratulate contest winner Jennifer Darling from Kansas City, single mom and social worker, for “liking” Dillon Road on Facebook.  Jennifer has won a custom made shirt (value $135)!

The Ultimate Mother’s Day Gift- a Career!

The official Hallmark Holiday named Mother’s Day is approaching quickly.  I tend to believe that we should be celebrated every day rather than one lone Sunday during the month of May.  That’s just me.  Last year I blogged on Butterfly about giving ourselves the gift of time- time off and time out as opposed to our 24-hour TIME IN!  But, if you’ll recall, my time turned into my daughter’s time, as we shared the most perfect bike ride – while serenading one another to our own rendition of Taylor Swift.  What I realized last Mother’s Day is that when my daughter is older than her 8 years, she will want and even demand time of her own… alone (meaning not with me!).

This year I’ve vowed to give myself a NEW gift- the gift of work-life fit. I will continue to allow myself to dabble in ventures that I love- without fear and void of any guilt.  Because, as my mom would say, “You have NOTHING TO LOSE!”  This Mother’s Day I encourage you to give yourself the same gift, the gift of a new venture or adventure if you will, with the belief that you have EVERYTHING TO GAIN.

Please accept our gift of work-life fit in this ground floor entrepreneurial opportunity because it’s your journey: Join Dillon Road’s team of Image Consultants, an exceptional network of people (lots of moms) passionate about helping men to be their best self by outfitting them with 100% custom tailored dress shirts. Each shirt is designed to each individual’s specific body proportions, physiques, and style preferences. Enjoy this Dillon Road opportunity, earn extra income, and allow it to fit into your life, not the other way around. This Mother’s Day adventure with Dillon Road can be embraced in between your kids’ soccer games, as a compliment to your day job or as a full-time career. It’s your choice. Period.

To learn more about your gift, enriching your life and the lives of those around you as a Dillon Road Independent Image Consultant, click here.  AND, to enter our Mother’s Day contest to WIN a custom made woman or man’s shirt from Dillon Road (value $135), simply “like” Dillon Road on facebook here!

Go on… Gift to YOURSELF this Mother’s Day,

I have finally risen fro…

I have finally risen from my turkey-induced coma and was curious to know if anyone else ate oneself into oblivion? Nonetheless, it was a nice respite from work…that I am sure you will all agree. I spent Thanksgiving Day, before our family feast, with my husband and kids at the Salvation Army. The obvious notion was to show my children, the son who longs for the iPhone 4s in particular, how they can impact the lives of the less fortunate. My family helped to separate non-perishables so that they could be easily identified and accessed for those to take home. We put out desserts, set the tables (more than 100 seats) and finally served food to the amazing families yearning for a Thanksgiving Day meal. We were thanked by many that day but, the real thanks goes to the children, mothers, and men, who touched our lives by allowing us to improve theirs. And the next time I eat myself into oblivion, I will regretfully do so knowing that I could have fed a village with the amount of food consumed.

Back to work on Monday to read yet another amazing post from our Career Coach, Dorothy Tannahill-Moran:
-What to do When the Boss takes Credit for your Work?

And, another hard-hitting piece by Jill Starishevsky, who prosecutes child abuse and sex crimes in New York City:
-Talking to Kids About Sexual Abuse

Both pieces are topical and timely so make sure to take a moment to read and to post some of your own expertise as well!
